Talking Therapies Header About

My name is Jacqueline Conroy.

“Healing is bringing all the pieces you left behind and making yourself whole again" Jacqueline Conroy

I am passionate about guiding women and young people in a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental therapeutic space through the pain, fear and shame to find peace and happiness. I will walk beside you as you emerge from the darkness of pain, confusion and fear into the light of who you really are. Together, we will untangle your mental, emotional and spiritual threads to access your deep knowing and truth and heal your pain, fear and shame.

My mission for all those who work with me is to:
Heal mental, emotional and spiritual pain and emerge from the shame and pain, live with peace, happiness and hope as the norm rather than the exception; and create lasting change to have a life worth living and make your dreams a reality.

Meet Jacqueline
I am mother to four children and grandmother to one and I live in the natural beauty Queensland, Australia where the rainforest meets the oceans of the Great Barrier Reef.

I combine my professional learning with practice wisdom and rich and full life experience including the lived experience of family mental illness.

Working with Jacqueline Conroy Talking Therapies
I work in a face-to-face setting and the practice also provides telephone and online counselling and therapy.

Jacqueline Conroy is an holistic Mental Health Social Worker, Registered Counsellor (Level 4) and Trauma/Abuse Survivor Recovery Coach. I hold registration with Australian Social Work Association (ASSW) and The Australia Counselling Association (ACA) with access to Medicare MBS and Health Insurance Company rebates.

I have extensive experience of working with people experiencing mental health problems and the family and friends who love and care for them. I believe in the universality of trauma for all mental illness – with depression, low sense of self worth, anxiety, panic attacks and psychosis as the symptoms of trauma. I have an understanding that self-harm and substance use are coping strategies and these strategies can be changed for less harmful ones.

I recognise that you are the expert in your life and I work with a mix of therapies to best meet your unique healing needs. I am trained in Compassion-Focused and Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), ACT, Inter Personal Therapy (IPT), Creative Therapies and Voice Dialogue techniques.

Although you do not need a referral to access counselling or therapy, Jacqueline Conroy accreditations and qualifications mean you are eligible for an Australian Medicare rebate.
However, to be eligible for the Medicare rebate, you do need to visit your GP first, explain your mental health concerns and obtain a referral called a Mental Health Care Plan. Your referral then entitles you to receive the Medicare rebate for 10 treatment sessions per calendar year.
